Cameyo Extends the Cost Savings of its Multi-Tenant Platform to All Windows Applications, Regardless of How Graphics-Intensive

CARY, N.C. – Oct. 2, 2019 – Cameyo, the cloud-native virtual application delivery platform that brings Windows applications to any device from the browser, today announced support for GPU-accelerated applications, extending the cost-savings of its multi-tenant platform to all Windows applications – regardless of how graphics-intensive they might be. Cameyo’s platform now enables organizations to deliver GPU-based applications like video-editing, graphic design, CAD, and other graphics-intensive apps – making it the first multi-tenant virtual app delivery platform to deliver any Windows application, from the browser.

“As organizations migrate to the cloud, most of them still have a handful of Windows applications that their people rely on to be productive. Most of those applications are productivity apps that only require CPU support, but many of those Windows apps – especially in certain industries – are graphics intensive and require GPU support,” said Steve Duplessie, Founder and Senior Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). “The ability to support multiple users, even for GPU-based applications, makes Cameyo an attractive, affordable option for companies migrating to the cloud who need these applications to be accessible on any device.”

Reducing the Cost of Cloud Migration

Other virtual app delivery products require a separate virtual machine for each individual user – regardless of whether they are using CPU- or GPU-based apps. Cameyo was the first multi-tenant virtual app delivery platform that enabled dozens of users per instance for CPU-based productivity apps, and it has now extended its patented cost-saving technology to GPU-based applications. Cameyo also remains the only cloud-native platform that runs in any customer environment – cloud, multi-cloud, hybrid, or on-premises.

This dramatically simplifies and reduces the cost of delivering all Windows applications, including GPU-based apps, to any device. As a result, organizations can eliminate a key barrier to cloud migration – application delivery – while reducing the overall cost and complexity of that migration.

Eliminating the Cost & Complexity of VDI

“Using Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or traditional application virtualization products is overkill, not to mention far too costly and complex, for providing virtual access to applications,” said Andrew Miller, Co-Founder and CEO of Cameyo. “By expanding our multi-tenant architecture to support multiple users per instance – even for GPU-based apps – Cameyo dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of delivering these apps to any device, from the browser.”

“We needed to find a cost-effective way to give our users access to certain GPU-dependent geological applications from the browser, and the cost and complexity of VDI was an automatic non-starter,” said Aaron Cooke, Principal Consultant & Founder at Helio Summit. “Cameyo’s ability to seamlessly support all our legacy applications – while delivering them to multiple users per instance with the same power of cloud-native applications – allows us to provide services to our customers at a much better cost than competing solutions.”

Getting Started

Any organization can get started with Cameyo in minutes by loading the applications they want to publish to their users to the Cameyo platform. IT can then determine who in their organization has access to each app, or publish apps to the entire organization. Once published, the organization’s users can access all of these legacy Windows apps – including GPU-based applications – from the browser, enabling them to utilize the apps on any device. Users can start work on one device and finish on another thanks to Cameyo’s Session Sync technology that provides data resiliency across sessions.

Pricing and Availability

Initially, GPU support will only be available via a native Windows app on Windows PCs and laptops. Support for Chromebooks is expected by the end of 2019, with other device support to be announced in early 2020.
