ISV Selects Cameyo Over Microsoft Remote Desktop and Amazon AppStream 2.0

Traditionally, the Vantea SMART solutions had been client-based applications that needed to be installed and managed on the customer’s devices. Vantea knew it needed to provide web-based access to its solutions, but the time, cost, and complexity of redeveloping the applications for the web were daunting.
“Redeveloping our solutions for the web would have taken at least one year and would have cost a minimum of $250,000 – and probably much more,” said Leonardo Nuzzo, Team Leader, Research & Development at Vantea SMART. “At the end of the day, we needed a simpler and more cost-effective way to deliver the desktop experience that our customers are used to, through the browser instead of an installed app.”
Prior to selecting Cameyo, the Vantea SMART team tried both Windows remote Desktop and Amazon AppStream 2.0. Both solutions had significant challenges in terms of scale, management complexity, and cost.
“We first tried Windows Remote Desktop, but we could only enable one person per customer to access our solutions with Remote Desktop,” said Nuzzo. “And on top of that, the complexity of setup and management was just way too much.”
After testing of Windows Remote Desktop proved it wasn’t a viable long-term solution, Vantea tried Amazon AppStream 2.0 next.
“Amazon AppStream was even more costly and complex,” said Nuzzo. “AppStream was very complicated to use, and even more complex to manage all the servers for all of the different customers we were servicing. It just wasn’t an option for us to deliver and maintain our solutions for our customers that way.”
